April 28, 2023
The Friends of Green River National Wildlife Refuge are planning a field event to be held at 9:30am on April 28, 2023, to be held at a property owned by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, (USFWS), located at: 10849 Green River Road #2, Spottsville, KY 42025. This event will be a small scale reforestation and demonstration event. The USFWS will provide the tree seedlings, tools and equipment and the Friends of Green River National Wildlife Refuge are assisting with providing the manpower. Limited concessions will be available at the event.
This event will be the first “on the ground” activity undertaken by the Friends group in cooperation with the USFWS; and, we expect to have more of these type of events in the future, as the USFWS acquires additional lands and begins to implement their management plan(s). The public is welcome and invited to observe and participate in this project that will provide additional wildlife habitat for our future generations. This is an outdoor field activity so dress for the weather, (rain or shine)! You will find a map of the site as an attached file and the driving directions are listed below from Henderson, Kentucky. There are 2 different ways to go to the property from Henderson:
- Take US-60 E to Tscharner Road (Left on Tscharner Road); follow Tscharner Road until dead-ends at Green River Road #2; Turn Right on Green River Road #2 and proceed to property.
- Take US-60 E to Hwy 1078 S ( Left on Hwy 1078 S); Continue on Hwy 1078 S until reaching Mound Ridge Road (go straight on Mound Ridge Road); Turn Left onto Green River Road #2 from Mound Ridge Road and proceed to property.
We look forward to seeing you there to begin the process of providing for our future.
